Ephesus Tango Marathon

The Ephesus Tango Marathon takes place in Şirince, a village near Selçuk/İzmir celebrated for its beauty and famous wines. The venue, Tiyatro Medresesi, is a romantic and dramatic space that creates an atmosphere perfectly suited to deep tango connection — one that dancers find hard to leave behind.

Running from Wednesday to Sunday, the program balances dancing with discovery. Multiple milongas fill each day, including outdoor afternoon sessions in the fresh village air, while Fire & Wine gatherings between milongas let dancers unwind by the fire and taste the region's renowned wines. A guided tour of the Ancient City of Ephesus and the House of the Virgin Mary is woven into the schedule, along with opportunities to visit Pamucak Beach just 15 minutes away.

A curated lineup of ten DJs from Greece, Argentina, France, Italy, Turkey, and Bosnia & Herzegovina ensures a rich and varied musical journey across the milongas. A Tango Mindfulness Workshop with Mary Li rounds out the programme on Saturday morning, offering dancers a chance to deepen their practice in an outdoor setting.

Accommodation options range from rooms at the marathon venue itself — where breakfast and dinner are included — to neighbouring Nesin Mathematics Village and several boutique hotels within walking distance. With a cap of 230 dancers and careful attention to gender balance, dance level, and country diversity, the marathon offers an intimate and international atmosphere in one of Turkey's most enchanting corners.
