About Festival de Prayssac
Now in its 28th edition, Festival de Prayssac takes place in the beautiful Lot valley of southwest France from Saturday 18 to Sunday 26 July 2026. This beloved summer gathering has earned a reputation for its unique teaching formula: maestros are chosen specifically for their pedagogical qualities, ensuring dancers of all levels experience genuine and measurable progress throughout the week.
Workshops are offered in 6-day and 3-day formats. Each 6-day stage consists of six 90-minute classes focused on a single theme, developed progressively from Sunday to Friday - giving participants real depth rather than a superficial overview. The 3-day option offers flexibility, whether you can only attend half the week or wish to combine two 3-day stages for greater thematic variety and exposure to different maestros.
The evening milongas are a highlight in their own right, with a different DJ each night - including both resident DJs and the maestros themselves. Several evenings feature live music: the ensemble Sin Vuelta, orchestra Picotango, and ensemble Hyperion all perform during the festival, accompanied by demonstrations from the teaching couples. A special open-air apero-tango on the town square adds a festive community spirit.
All stages and milongas take place at the Espace Maurice Faure and its adjoining rooms. On-site vendors offer tango shoes and clothing throughout the week. Organized by Association Le Temps du Tango, Festival de Prayssac is a warmly curated, educationally serious, and socially vibrant event not to be missed.
