Sapporo Tango Festival

Set against Hokkaido's breathtaking autumn foliage, the Sapporo Tango Festival 2026 brings together tango dancers from Japan, Asia, and beyond for three elegant days of dancing, music, and connection. Taking place October 23–25, 2026, the festival is organized around the concept of Connection, Respect, and Musicality — values that shape every aspect of its program.

The festival opens Friday with a Welcome Milonga at Dance Hall Ichibankan, hosted by DJ Kiyona. Saturday evening moves to the stunning Former Hokkaido Government Office (Red Brick Building) for the special Milonga Todo Es Amor with DJ Gianluca Seo, followed by an after-party celebrating Hokkaido's renowned local cuisine. Sunday's Grand Milonga closes the weekend on a high note, with internationally acclaimed DJ Carlos Churri Lee at the decks and live demonstration performances by guest dancers.

Special guest dancers include Ernesto Suter & Paola Klinger, Mauricio & Mariko, and Tamai & Sumire — the latter with a cherished connection to Sapporo. Each day also includes a group lesson led by the guest artists, and Sunday morning features an intimate music charla with DJ Carlos Churri Lee over mate tea.

Sapporo in October is crisp, comfortable, and beautiful — ideal for dancing and travel. New Chitose Airport (CTS) offers direct international flights from Seoul, Taipei, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur, making this festival highly accessible for international guests. Elegant dress vendors will be present at all venues. Solo dancers, couples, and groups are all warmly welcomed.
