About Sofia Tango Festival
Each September, the Sofia tango community opens its arms to dancers from around the world for a weekend unlike any other. The Sofia Tango Festival is built around a love of pure tango, golden age music, and dancing hard - this year under the evocative theme Lost in Translation.
The festival spans multiple unique venues across the city. The main hub is Krasno Selo Culture Center, a spacious hall with a wooden floor perfect for all-night milongas and workshops running Friday through Sunday. Afternoon milongas move to the spectacular Rooftop59 - a 360-degree rooftop bar with mountain and city views, cocktails, and a pool. Thursday kicks things off at BT Dance Studio in the heart of downtown, combining a workshop and a milonga in a great sightseeing-friendly location.
World-renowned maestros are invited each year to help dancers explore fundamentals, musicality, and inspiration through workshops and performances. Whether you are looking to grow technically or simply soak in the artistry, the festival offers something for every level.
