About Abrazos Tango Festival
Abrazos Tango Festival 2026 invites dancers to New York City for a weekend of Argentine tango rooted in the spirit of improvisation and deep connection. Inspired by Julio Cortazar's novel Hopscotch (Rayuela), the festival explores tango's non-linear nature, the way meaning emerges through freedom, form, and presence with another person. Every class, milonga, and encounter is woven into this living conversation between structure and discovery.
The 2026 edition features internationally acclaimed artists Los Totis (Virginia Gomez & Christian Marquez), a partnership forged in 1997 and celebrated worldwide for their precision, elegance, and musicality. They are joined by Pablo Rodriguez and Antonella Terrazas, whose fused style blends creativity, emotional depth, and spectacular fluid movement. Together, these couples bring both the classical and the contemporary to the dance floor.
Set in the beautiful Hungarian House on Manhattan's Upper East Side, the festival unfolds across Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with workshops, practicas, and milongas. A dedicated roster of DJs, including Adam Hoopengardner, Maria Valentina, and Georges Naasan, keeps the dance floor alive each night. Partner rotation is standard in classes, but you're welcome to dance with your own partner throughout.
Organized by Mariela and Dagny of Dance Tango NYC, Abrazos is a thoughtfully curated event for dancers of all levels who love tango danced with intention. No partner is required to register, the team works to balance roles across the weekend. Reserve your spot and join the community this November.
