About Happy Tango
Happy Tango is a tango encuentro in Calpe (Calp), Spain, that lets you begin and end the year dancing tango. Held at the prestigious Hotel AR Diamante Beach on La Fossa beach, it runs across New Year, on 30 and 31 December 2026 and 1, 2 and 3 January 2027, gathering tango friends to share some of the most endearing days of the year.
The days are built around the milonga and the seaside resort. Mornings begin with generous breakfasts at the hotel, followed by relaxed walks, morning and afternoon milongas, and evenings of dinners and dancing. Some milongas take place in rooms opening onto the pool terrace, where you can dance outdoors. A complimentary SPA circuit is also part of the experience.
The highlight is New Year's Eve, celebrated in style with an exquisite gala dinner followed by a milonga, the traditional lucky grapes at midnight, and a toast with cava to welcome the new year. New Year's Day continues with a festive lunch and an afternoon milonga, so the dancing never really stops. All dinners and milongas take place under one roof at the same hotel, which has a wonderful wooden floor and an excellent sound system.
Calpe is a small Costa Blanca town dominated by the Penon de Ifach, a 332-metre rocky natural park rising from the sea between fine-sand beaches. It lies about 63 km from Alicante, with regular buses linking the airport to the event hotel. The event is organised by Jose David Reus and Victoria Huang.
